Following the Punic War
The end of the Punic Wars brought with it the rise of the Roman Empire, and along with that a wide array of leaders for Rome, both good and bad.
During the time of the Punic Wars, Rome was also using it military to expand its empire in the areas of Macedonia, where they were also waging the Macedonian Wars. Unfortunately for Rome, their governing system was unable to sustain their now larger empire. This was the start of a very difficult time for Rome, which was plagued by a great divide between their upper and lower class. It was during this time we see Julius Caesar rise of up in power. Julius Caesar quickly rose to fame with his successful conquest of Spain, and was awarded ruling authority of three provinces in Gaul. With his rising fame and power Julius Caesar set his sights on Rome, and crossed the Rubicon River, launching Rome into an epic civil war.
